HOw To PENNY CANDY JARS

Penny Candy Jars

 I found these great jars on clearance the other day and one of my local lunch haunts.  I think they call the shape "Penny Candy" jars?  These are a bit smaller than their original counterparts.

 For us, the better part is that they have screw top lids (the originals have a lid that just sort of sits on top).  Those will keep them sealed tightly and since we aren't at the farm all the time, we won't have to worry about bugs, moths, and mice getting into whatever we put in them.
Of course, therein lies the big conundrum.  We haven't decided what to put in them yet but we will eventually.  We have many other jars with things like rice and lentils and flours, sugars etc.  These need something special in them I think.  Nuts?  Dried fruit?  Actual Candy?

 As time goes by, and we are out there more often, we'll run across something we need to put in them that we just can't live without, though I still think candy is a good idea.  Maybe some of that old school fun 'retro candy'?

HOw To HORTON HEARS A WHO FLOWERS IN BLOOM

For some reason, these don't always appear at the farm each Spring.  Because of that, we love that somehow they are rarer than the other things popping up on a regular basis.   Dr. Seuss flower? Sure enough, last weekend, they were in a few patches around the farm.  The first time we ever saw one, the FIRST thing we both said was... HORTON HEARS A WHO!!!!!!! The iconic Dr. Seuss character who finds a whole world living on a speck on an awesome looking pink and yellow flower.  Horton Hears a Who flower The only thing missing on ours are the striped stems, ha.  They are SO pretty and so unusual, even if it is "just a weed", we love having them around.   I thought about cutting some to put in a small vase and see how long they last...and maybe we'll just have to start listening a little closer to them. Hmm, just thought about it, maybe I should try to press some in my flower press?
