Fake Victory Garden Poster |
UPDATE 3/2012: There was some controversy regarding this poster and its origins. Apparently it was copied and adapted from some Nazi WWII propaganda posters. So I'm replacing it with another poster honoring French soldiers during WWII. It's not gardening related, but seeing as how Nazi Germany did harm to the French people as well, I thought I'd just put up a poster that honors their contribution.
I still love the message behind the the other poster, as it was very popular during the Victory Garden campaigns to remind people that growing your own food was the best way to fight inflation.

Once again, I think those words are just as true today as they were all those years ago. There is no better way to fight the rising cost of food than growing your own in your yard, harvesting it, and eating it. There are those today that want to eat "organic", but the cost of organic fruits and veggies can be really expensive. If you plant it and grow it and don't use chemicals and pesticides, you have your own organic food, in a virtual unlimited supply.
As always, click on the "history" label below and you can see all the vintage posters I've blogged about, every Sunday morning. Enjoy!
